Peter Navarro Talks Upcoming Trade Negotiations with China

This Thursday, high-level trade negotiations are set to resume between the U.S. and China.

The year-long trade war continues to inflict damage on both countries' economies. And tariffs on Chinese goods, which had been delayed over the summer, are set to kick back in on December 15th.

A key manufacturing report recently showed the industry to be at its weakest point since the Great Recession. And the latest jobs report shows that, while unemployment is at a 50-year low, 2,000 U.S. manufacturing jobs were lost in September.

But political pressures are pushing up against efforts to find a solution.

The House's impeachment inquiry is sucking up a lot of bandwidth from the White House. And President Trump recently called on China to investigate his political opponent Joe Biden.

But Peter Navarro, Assistant to the President and Director of the Office of Trade and Manufacturing Policy, says that the economy is strong and that the president's work to revitalize manufacturing is "truly a Trump miracle."

Peter Navarro joins The Takeaway ahead of Thursday's trade talks.
